Is Type 2 diabetes reversible? For many, the answer is yes.

Diabetes is a serious disease and must be treated as such. Many Type 2 diabetics have come to use Dr. Cohen's New Hippocratic Diet® for weight-control and found that it brought their diabetes under better control than it had ever been before. Most were able to reduce or eliminate diabetic medications. Dr. Cohen cautions that diabetics on medication will need to monitor themselves closely and be in communication with a physician when starting this plan. Although the weight-loss is important, most diabetics following this plan saw changes as soon as they started, so they must prepare in advance for medication reduction. For those in earlier stages of diabetes, or simply at high-risk, it is even easier. This book expands Dr. Cohen's New Hippocratic Diet® with a focus on information specifically for those suffering from Type 2 diabetes and families at risk. This is not a temporary solution, but a plan for life.

The author Irving A. Cohen, MD, MPH is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine. He is trained and Board-Certified in Preventive Medicine and Public Health. He formerly served as Chief Resident in Preventive Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health. In the past, he has been associated with the departments of History of Medicine as well as Preventive Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, and has served as adjunct faculty at a number of other institutions. He currently directs Preventive Medicine Associates and provides voluntary services for the uninsured at the Marian Clinic, both in Kansas. He has helped diabetics bring their disease under control while they also lost weight. He has made presentations about the basis of his diet at national and international scientific forums and literature Medline Reference.
